Obtaining Keys - Lockbox Opening Instructions
When you arrive, there will be a lockbox on the front door to your unit. Unit numbers are located on the posts beside each door. The combination to the lockbox will be set to the numeric combination supplied by you on your reservation form. Please make sure you remember it.
If you are in unit # 1, it is located on the 2nd floor above the office. In this case, the lockbox will be on the office door and you must enter through the office door and go up the stairs. The same key fits both the office door and your front door. Please ensure that both the deadbolt lock and the entry lock to the office door remain locked at all times.
To open the lockbox and get your keys, push each corresponding numbered button of your secret code once. (NOTE: If you have used the same digit twice, the button will not click the 2nd time you punch the number - but that's OK.) After punching your combination, push down on the upper middle latch button with your thumb. While pushing the latch down with your thumb, move your thumb towards you and the front cover of the lock box will pull out, revealing your keys inside. If you make a mistake or need to re-try, release the middle upper latch and then push down on the middle lower latch and release it. This resets everything and will let you try again. If you arrive after dark, the outside light should be on so that you can see the lockbox. If the light is burned out or not on, you can usually read the numbers by using the light from a cell phone. Otherwise, there is a flashlight behind the office (unit #1) in a plastic container. Please return the flashlight immediately after use so that others may use it if necessary..
Once you get into the unit, please notify me of your arrival by calling me (phone inside unit) at (919) 933-5296. You can call and leave a message anytime. Calls are forwarded to my voice mail late at night, so if you get my voice mail you can simply leave a message. Please also state approximately what time you will be up and about the following morning so that I can stop by to meet you.
If you have problems or emergencies, or if you have difficulty getting into the unit, you can page me by following the instructions on the voice mail. But please remember that there is a $45 charge if we have to let you in. If you have any questions between now and your arrival, don’t hesitate to ask.
It is not necessary to put the cover back on unless you need to leave a key for someone else to pick up later. If you need to put the cover back on, no force or effort is required. Simply:
(a) Make sure any key(s) in the box are laying flat against the rear wall and do not interfere with insertion of the cover.
(b) Insert the cover at an angle so that the bottom of the cover is fully inserted at the bottom edge of the hole. Then punch in the combination.
(c) Push down the upper latch, and while keeping it depressed, push the cover in place and release the upper latch. Test the latch a few times to make sure the cover is inserted properly.
(d) If the cover does not slip back in place, make sure no keys are in the way and that nothing interferes with insertion of the front cover. Depress the lower latch, release, and try again.
(e) When departing, please leave your keys on the kitchen countertop and lock the door as you leave.
